Background

The ExploreTunes Bonus Pack includes applications that provide special ExploreTunes capabilities for users of the iTunes, Windows Media and Winamp media players. The Bonus Pack is compatible with Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP.

Starting the ExploreTunes Application

  • To use the Explore Tunes Application with iTunes, click the Windows Start icon in the lower left corner of your screen, and then locate and click the ExploreTunes icon in the program panel (note you may need to click the following sequence below to start the ExploreTunes application): Start → Programs → ExploreTunes → iTunes → ExploreTunes

    If you chose to install the ExploreTunes desktop icon during installation, you may also click the ExploreTunes icon on your desktop to start iTunes with the ExploreTunes panel.

  • With the Windows Media and Winamp players, the ExploreTunes Application panel will automatically appear when you start the player.

    Upon startup of the player, the ExploreTunes Application panel will appear to the right of the player.

Selecting a Song and filling the ExploreTunes displays

  • When you select or play a song in the iTunes player, the ExploreTunes Application will automatically fill the Video, Information and Artist news panels.

  • With the Windows Media and Winamp players, the ExploreTunes Application panel is filled when you play a song in the player.

Song Video Panel

The song Video panel is at the center of the ExploreTunes Application panel. It displays the music video for the currently selected song, and the playback of the music video begins when the Video panel's Play button is clicked.

  • Video Type Selection Buttons and Selection Arrows

    The "Selected", "Live" and "Interview" buttons at the top of the Video display allow you to choose to listen to and view different video types related to the currently selected song and artist.

    • "Selected" Video Mode

      When the "Selected" button is active the video for the currently selected song will be displayed.

    • "Live" Video Mode

      When the "Live" button is active, a series of videos of live songs by the currently selected artist are available for viewing. In this mode left and right arrows will appear above the video and you can click these arrows to move forward and back in the list of available live song videos.

    • "Interview" Video Mode

      When the "Interview" button is active, a series of videos of interviews of the currently selected artist are available for viewing. In this mode left and right arrows will appear above the video and you can click these arrows to move forward and back in the list of available video interviews.

  • Song Play/Pause Button

    The ExploreTunes Application Play/Pause button is located at the lower left corner of the Video panel.

    Clicking the Play button will initiate playback of the currently displayed video and song in the Video panel. When playback has begun the Play button then changes appearance to a Pause button.

    Playback can be stopped at any time by clicking the Pause button.

    With the iTunes and Winamp player, when you start the playback of a video, if the song is playing in iTunes or Winamp, it will be automatically paused. With the Windows Media player you must manually stop play in the player before starting the video playback.

  • Full Screen Video Mode

    If you wish to view the video in Full Screen mode, click on the "four arrow" icon at the right side of the bottom of the video display. You can then return to normal display mode by pressing the Esc key on your keyboard.

  • Song Playback Volume

    You can set the song audio playback level by clicking on and adjusting the speaker volume icon located at the left side of the bottom of the Video display panel. If the sound level is still too low after you have set this control to its maximum setting, you need to increase the master control volume setting for your computer system.

Artist Information Panel

The Artist Information panel is located at the top of the ExploreTunes Application panel. This panel displays background information about the currently selected artist.

To view a more detailed version of this background information, click on the "Read more" link at the end of the text.

Artist News Panel

The Artist News panel is at the bottom of the ExploreTunes Application panel. It contains a list of links to the latest news stories relating to the currently selected artist.

Clicking on one of these links will open the page containing the full news story in your web browser.

You can use the scroll bar at the right of this panel to view and select all the available news links.

The Explore Button

The Explore Button is located at the upper right hand corner of the Video panel.

Clicking the Explore Button will open an ExploreTunes Artist Page for the artist of the currently selected song in your media player.

The Artist Page contains a list of additional songs from that artist which you can select and play, and it also uses the ExploreTunes artist matching feature, Similar Artists to display a list of similar artists that you will also enjoy. Use the Help button at the upper right hand corner of the ExploreTunes page for more information on how to use the ExploreTunes Artist Pages.

  • ExploreTunes Application panel display control with iTunes

    With the iTunes player, when you wish the ExploreTunes Application panel to be displayed, just start the iTunes player using the ExploreTunes start menu entry or desktop icon as described above.

    If you wish for the ExploreTunes panel to no longer be displayed, click on the X in the upper right hand corner of the panel.

  • ExploreTunes Application panel display control with the Windows Media Player

    With the Windows Media player, if you wish to have the ExploreTunes Application panel close just for this session, click on the X in the upper right hand corner of the panel. To have the ExploreTunes Application no longer appear when you start the Windows Media player, select the menu options below in the player: Tools → Plug-ins Then click on the check to the left of the ExploreTunes menu entry to disable the startup of the ExploreTunes Application panel.

  • ExploreTunes Application panel display control with the Winamp player

    With the Winamp player, if you wish to have the ExploreTunes Application panel close just for this session, click on the X in the upper right hand corner of the panel. To have the ExploreTunes Application no longer appear when you start the Winamp player, select the menu options below in the player: Options → Preferences → Plug-ins → General Purpose Then click on the ExploreTunes entry in the displayed list to highlight it and then click on the "Uninstall Selected plug-in" button to disable and uninstall the ExploreTunes Application panel. Note that to use the ExploreTunes Application panel again, you will need to reinstall the ExploreTunes Bonus Pack.

The Explore Application Menu Button

The ExploreTunes Application Menu button is located at the upper right hand corner of the ExploreTunes Application.

  • Menu → Options (ExploreTunes Application Panel Window Snapping and Overlay Properties)

    • Allow Snapping

      To have the ExploreTunes Application always "snap" (automatically locate) at the side of your player, use the menu entry below: Menu → Options → Allow Snapping (checked on)

      To disable this mode, uncheck the Allow Snapping option.

    • Window Always On Top

      To have the ExploreTunes Application always appear on your screen in front of all other applications, use the menu entry below: Menu → Options → Window Always On Top (checked on)

      To disable this mode, uncheck the Window Always On Top option.

  • Menu → Feedback (Provide Feedback about ExploreTunes)

    If you wish to send us feedback about ExploreTunes, such as suggestions for new features or comments about the current features, please select the menu options below: Menu → Feedback This will open the ExploreTunes Facebook page where you can post your suggestions and comments.
